Hi Melissa, thanks for the invite. I will definitely participate! My sister is hosting for New Year Eve’s dinner, but of course that means I’ll be hard at work, too! I’ll get the recipes and pics from our meal there. Hope that you have a fabulous New Years!

Thank you Dawn!!! Yes, I´ll be cooking all kinds of yummy things for the New Years dinner. Happy new year, with lots of love, travels, great food and health! Gracias

This is a good idea, unfortunatly i cannot cook. Im the kind of guy that turns up when the food is ready, so i’ll help you eat it all if you want!

Jamal, I understand you do not cook, but how about sharing the photos of your new years eve dinner and some new years resolutions? That would be just great! Feliz 2006!

This sounds like a fun idea. I am having a party at my house on January 1, so on New Year’s Eve I will be getting ready for that and not having any kind of dinner. But since it doesn’t have to be posted until January 2 I am assuming I can still post what I made for January 1, right? I can tell you now, this is a soup party, so it will be different kinds of soups. Some of my other friends are also quite the foodies, so maybe I can also get some photos or recipes from things other people bring.

Hi Melissa,
Thanks for your comment on my blog and for linking to my blog as well. I like your site, full of great info and cute to look at too! I hope I will get a chance to post some pics of our traditional Dutch (even though I live in Canada) New Years’ Ollieballen & Appelflappen - I have to have my camera at the ready since these treats get devoured too quickly with only a puff of icing sugar left behind to prove that they were ever even there. Happy New Year to you!

Prospero año nuevo Melissa y todos que estan aqui:) I hope my Spanish is okay!
I’m going to be making pernil (Puerto Rican style roast pork shoulder) for New Year’s Eve from a recipe I found in Daisy Martinez’ new cookbook “Daisy Cooks: Latin Flavors that will Rock Your World.” It looks soooo delicious. I’ll let you know how it turns out and maybe even take a photo:) Happy New Year!

JENNY: we would love to see the photos, please have your camera ready to take some photos, then blog about it and send us the info and that would be your entry!!!
YOVANNA: que rico pernil!!! I have not seen the book, but it sounds delicious. Do not forget to take photos of the dinner and send me the recipe so I post your entry here . Hugs!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Great blog Chef Melissa! I’ll try to see if I can make my family’s traditional Filipino New Year’s dessert without the supervision of anyone who’s actually made it before and post the pics on my blog. =) Hopefully it’ll turn out OK.

Yovanna - I sampled some of Daisy’s pernil when she did a book signing in New York and it was really good!! I hope you enjoy it!

Gerald - What Filipino dessert are you making? My step-mom is Filipino, so whenever I’m visiting, I get a nice dose of great Filipino food! Holidays are especially tasty! I absolutely love turon (the fried banana in lumpia wrapper).
P.S. The pernil turned out fantastic! And the arroz con guandules is very good! I’ll definitely be making both of them again!

Melissa, too bad I only got to read this AFTER New Year’s Eve. Some friends got together for a pot luck and I didn’t even think to bring the camera. That said, I can’t wait to see what everyone else did. Great idea, thanks for sharing.
I wish you a wonderful 2006, filled with great food!!!
