What’s cooking in my kitchen? edit

Lob_las_1 You would not believe what a beautiful day we have today in Panama City: sunny, not too hot and the ocean---oh, the ocean is marvelous! I have been super ocupada in my kitchen, and haven't had much time to post new recipes. BUT WAIT!!! there are some fantabulous post to come in the next days---and to tease you a little: how about the most scrumptious lobster lasagna you would ever try. My mouth is watering as I type this. Oh boy it was good.

Mou_mara_2 The next recipe will be a heavenly "Passion fruit and white chocolate mousse with pionono de fresa". I prepared this delicious dessert for a friend's birthday a couple of days ago. It is not so complicated to prepare as it looks. Believe me...will be a piece of cake smile

I also have a surprise for you---but my lips are sealed and I just got a terrible pain in my fingers, so I can not type more now. Sorry. You will have to wait a few more days to learn about it!

So stay tuned and come back soon to learn about our latest cooking adventures!

Abrazos from my dear Panama!

IMBB 20: Souffle de Maracuya edit

Mara_2 When IMBB 20: Has my blog fallen?, hosted by The Kitchen Chick was first announced, I was thrilled because I love soufflés...and would love to share with you one of my sassy tropical recipes! Weeks passed and I almost forgot (as it happens most of the time!). Then I decided to feature -maracuya- as the tropical fruit of the day---But, hold on, you might already know this fruit: it is the mysterious passion fruit! Now, how about If I tell you this hot passion fruit soufflé is feather light and will tantalize the taste buds with the tart sweetness and tropical perfume of passion fruit? It sounds inviting, and I am sure your guests and family will love it! Hmmm...

Furthermore, I am dedicating this post and this delicious soufflés de maracuya to my friend Michelle from The Accidental Scientist. Michelle posted yesterday the most beautiful thoughts about friendship: "Sometimes it's hard to make friends...and sometimes you find friends in places you would never have imagined..."  I invite you to visit her blog and read the post and think for a moment on this issue, because I am sure you have felt the same way smile

Now, the recipe...This is my version of the one by "Le Cordon Bleu Home Collection, Desserts". Hope you like it!

La Receta del Dia: Almond-Orange Pound Cake and Uchuva Sauce edit

Goose The "uchuva", physalis peruviana linnaeus, is originally from Peru and grows wild in high regions. It is one of the traditional tropical fruits from Colombia and in English it is known as "cape gooseberry", or "yellow gooseberry". The nutritional values of the uchuva are very similar to the cherry.

Two hundred years ago, the Portuguese and Spanish sailors introduced the "uchuva" in South Africa. They brought them from Latin America to Buena Esperanza Cape in South Africa. From there it was taken to Kenya, Zimbabwe, Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii, India, where it's grown commercially.

The uchuva fruit is delicious baked in cakes, desserts, made into sauces and preserves as well as dressing for salads and grilled meats. The wood from the shrub is used to make furniture.

Today I will share with you a delicious recipe for Orange Almond Pound Cake and the most delicate Uchuva Sauce. The sauce keeps refrigerated for up to a month...Now the recipe!

Tiempos aquellos! …
